Peace Peace- Peace made Possible

Luke 2:8-15 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Practical Peace Pointers:
1- Don’t be consumed with the “Why?”
“In the tension of life, understand revelation is greater than information.”
Romans 16:19-20 I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.

2- Give life space- Stay flexible for the unplanned.
Proverbs 16:9 We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.

3. Dwell on Gods goodness- Live with a grateful mindset.
Romans 8:5-6 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Peace is made Possible

Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace

“Peace gives us Power over any troubling situation!”

1- Peace is paid for

Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

2- Peace is promised
“Because peace was purchase we have access to it!”
John 16:33 Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
John 14:27 (NIV) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

3-Peace is found in his presence
“Peace is not found the absence of trouble but the presence of Jesus”

Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Peace Peace- Prince of Peace

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing: Charles Wesley 1739
“Hark! the herald angels sing "Glory to the newborn KingPeace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!"Joyful, all ye nations rise; Join the triumph of the skies; With angelic host proclaim "Christ is born in Bethlehem!” Hark! the herald angels sing "Glory to the newborn King!"

Jesus the unexpected gift.

Luke 1:26-35 God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!” Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!” Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.

II. The Prince of Peace…
1- He Didn’t come for “world peace”

Matthew 10:31-34 (NIV) So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

2- He made peace with man…and left it here.

Colossians 1:19-22 (NLT) For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

John 14:27 (NIV) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

3- He makes peace possible through trust
Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

Colossians 1:17
(NIV) He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

“Because Our peace is not found in the world we don't loose it when our world crumbles.”
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
