Isaiah 40:28-31 (NLT) 28 Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. 29 He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. 30 Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. 31 But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Psalm 84:1-7 (NIV) How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty! 2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. 3 Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young-- a place near your altar, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God. 4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Selah 5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage. 6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. 7 They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.

Strength to Strength
1. Strength is not stiff

Tenderness > Toughness

2. Strength is not defined in a moment.
3. Strength comes from grace.

Grace may also be defined as supernatural strength.
2 Timothy 2:1 (NIV)
My son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

4. Strength is perfected in weakness.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (NIV) 7 To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power(strength) is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

“His strength is fulfilled when adversity makes us weak”

Psalm 28:8 (NIV) The LORD is the strength of his people.

“The moment when we can admit our strength is insufficient is the moment we begin to see His strength displayed.”

5. Trust activates supernatural strength.
“You don’t earn Grace you trust it.”
“Trust provides the thrust.”

Zechariah 4:6 (NIV)
’Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.

At a higher altitude….
Safe

Efficient

Our Attitude determines our Altitude.

Romans 8:5-6 (NIV) 5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.

Attitude: a mental position with regard to a fact or state.
Perspective: a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view:

The Power of Perspective
“Attitude is not defined by your situation but how you see the situation.

“The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem” -Jack Sparrow

How we see impacts the way we act.
1- The way we see God
2- The way we see Ourselves
3- The way we see/treat others

Philippians 2:3-9(NLT) 3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. 9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names.

An Altitude Adjustment
1- Look Up
In the struggle
Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV)
I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Influence our attitude:
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV) 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
We become what we behold.

2- Look From
Ephesians 2:6-7 (NIV) 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.
The higher you go the smaller things appear

3- Look Beyond

4- Lighten Up
Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)
28 …“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Life In The Cockpit

Dreaming with God
Proverbs 13:12 (
NLT) Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.

1. God is a Dreamer

2. God is looking for Co-Dreamers

3. The dream is a journey, not a destination.
“He is not just working through you he is working on you!”
Matthew 13:33 (NLT) “The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”

4. Don’t dream alone.
“Leave the dream a lone, that dreams alone.”
The dream is measured in names, not numbers.”

5. The dream is built on trust
Mark 9:23-24
(NIV) 23 "'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes." 24 Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"
In the kingdom building is yielding.
YOU CAN MUSCLE YOUR DREAM BUT ONLY GOD CAN BUILD HIS!
Psalm 127:1 (NIV)
Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain.

Strength to Strength

Romans 8:29-37 (NLT) 29 God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us. 35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

1. Resistance is certain.
Newtons 3rd Law of Motion
. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
“Our accomplishment of flight is indicative of something profound, beyond the normal order of nature.”- The Write Brothers

2. We were (re)built for flight
John 3:3-7 (NLT) 3
“I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” 4 “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?” 5 Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. 6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. 7 So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’

Because we are born of spirit we have a new nature.
We hear and understand- Matthew 13:16
We bear the fruit of the spirit-
Galatians 5:22-23
We war in the spirit(with spiritual weaponry)-
Ephesians 6:12-18
We have the gifts of the Spirit-
1 Corinthians 12:8–10
We are spiritually minded-
Romans 8:6
We are led by the Spirit-
Romans 8:14

Getting off the Ground

encountersslide

John 8:2-11 (NIV) 2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" 11 "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

Jesus provides freedom from….
1. Accusation
Revelation 12:10, John 8: 44

The spirit of accusation…
Focusses on individuals not issues.
Labels and values people according to their weakness, failures & sins.
“One can be right in their assessment yet wrong in their assertion.”
Ephesians 4:15 (NLT)
We will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ.

2. Condemnation:

Romans 8:1-4 (NLT) 1 There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.

Condemnation &. Conviction= can feel the same.
Condemnation: Drives us away from Gods presence.
Conviction:
(from Godly sorrow) Drives us into Gods presence. Invites us to share in holiness.

3. Shame

Shame is an identity issue.

4. Sin
“Go and sin no more” Not just forgiveness but Freedom!

Walking in Freedom: freedom & fellowship
1. Focus
(not on our sins or the sins of others, not on the past)
Psalm 34:5 (NIV) Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
2. Fellowship

1 John 2:28 (NLT) Dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.

——

John 3:17-18 (NIV) 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
