When God Prays- Yeilding

edge

John 17: 20-26 (NLT) “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began! “O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.”

“FRIENDS WE GET THE INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY TO ANSWER WHAT GOD PRAYED FOR!”

Realities concerning unity:
1. Jesus gives glory for unity
“God is most glorified when we are unified.”
2- Unity is a non-negotiable
“Unity is a priority for God, it should be a priority for us.”

Ephesians 4:2-6 (NLT) Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all.
3-The incredible ability of Unity
Psalm 133:1-3 (NIV) How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

Answering the prayer of Jesus:Growing In Unity.
1- Loving & Honoring one another.
John 13:35 (NIV) "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
“I am convinced that the spirit of comparison and criticism has robbed the church of her power!”
Ephesians 5:27 (NIV) …To present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

2- Being together
Unity flows from community
Colossians 3:16 (NIV)
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

3- Accomplish together
Genesis 11:6 (NLT) “Look!” he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them!

What can we do if we share a common goal for Gods glory!

When God Prays- May they be one

edge Philippians 1:9-11 (NLT) 9 I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. 11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

Galatians 5:16-25 (NLT) 16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature(flesh) craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses. 19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

The Fruit of The Spirit:

  1. Love

  2. Joy

  3. Peace

  4. Patience

  5. Kindness

  6. Goodness

  7. Faithfulness

  8. Gentleness

  9. Self-Control

ONE fruit with 9 manifestations.
Life in the Spirit
1- Identity
Psalm 92:12-14 (NIV) 12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; 13 planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.

2- Infilling
“Connection dictates the influence of my source.”
Ephesians 5:18 (NLT) 18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.

3- influence

Galatians 5:25(NLT) Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

When God Prays- Spirit of Truth

edge

Psalm 91:1-16 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you make the Most High your dwelling-- even the LORD, who is my refuge-- then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Refuge: (ref·uge) Shelter or protection from danger or trouble: a place that provides shelter or protection

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Strong Tower/ Tower of Refuge/ Watchtower.
1-Positioned Strategically
2-Protection

3- Place of Rest
4- Provisions
5- Personnel

The Name of the Lord:
Philippians 2:9-11 God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
John 14:13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it…
Acts 4:12 & 13 There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.
“Its one thing to know the name…It’s another thing to know the man.
Acts 19:15 “I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?”

His Identity = Our Refuge.
Psalm 91:1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

El Shaddai- The almighty,
Genesis 17:1-6 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.” At this, Abram fell face down on the ground. Then God said to him, “This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations! What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations. I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them!

“God changes our identity by revealing His!”

El Shaddai- The almighty:

1. Sufficient, All Sufficient.
2. Source of Nourishment.

3. Source Strength

Psalm 121:1-8 I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The LORD himself watches over you! The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.

Hebrews 4:16
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

When God Prays- Matthew 11:25-30

He Is…. And You Are!

Colossians 2:8-10

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy or empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

4 Keys To Understanding Your Identity

1. Beware of Identity found from the world

2. God’s complete Identity is important

3. You are complete in the Body of Christ

4. Your true Identity is a reflection of Jesus

1.  Beware of Identity found from the world

John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

2. God’s complete Identity is important

3. You are complete in the Body of Christ

Romans 12:4,5  For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.

1 Corinthians 12: 18    But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.

4. Your true identity is a reflection of Jesus

2 Corinthians 5:21  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Galatians 2:20   I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

“The only way you will truly know who you are is by seeing who He is in you.”

1 Corinthians 13:12
For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

Different types of mirrors we look in to:

1. The High Definition Mirror

2. The Fun-house Mirror

Galatians 5:1 (NIV) It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Hebrews 12:14-15 Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

BOXES:
1- Shame & regret
2- Pain & Mistreatment
3- Offense & Unforgiveness
Luke 17:1 (NKJV)
"It is impossible that no offenses should come…
“Offense” Gk (Skandalon): the stick that is used to spring a snare.

Proverbs 18:19 (NIV) An offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city.

“A person who cannot forgive is a person who has forgotten what Christ has forgiven them of.”

Ephesians 4:30-32 (NIV)
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Bitter into Sweet

Exodus 15:22-25 (NIV) Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water. When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.) So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What are we to drink?" Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the LORD made a decree and a law for them, and there he tested them.

1- Pain serves us we don't serve pain.
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

“In The Kingdom Scars speak louder of the the win than the wound”

2- People are not the enemy
Philippians 2:3-5 (NLT) Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

3- Tenderness is our ally
The harder our heart is the harder it is to get healed.
“If wounds are not correctly treated they never heal.”
“Healing can take time but time doesn’t heal all wounds”
James 5:16 (NLT) Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

Ministry:

Ezekiel 36:26(NIV) I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Psalm 103:2-6 (NIV) Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
