Our Father-Provision

Matthew 6:9–13 (NKJV)

9 Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as
it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Provision
Matthew 6:11 (NKJV) Give us this day our daily bread.

Manna- Exodus 16
"The manna that nourished yesterday will poison you today."

Bread: represents everything necessary to sustain life.

Provisions are promised.
Philippians 4:19–20 (NIV) 19 My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. 20 To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

"God provides: not according to earthly need, but by heavens resources."

Psalm 37:25–26 (NIV) 25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. 26 They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.

Matthew 6:25,31-34 (NIV) 25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Praying for Provision
Luke 11:5–13 (NIV) 5 "Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; 6 a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.' 7 And suppose the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' 8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.
9 "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
11 "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

1. Pray Persistently.
Prayer tip: Ask and keep asking.

2. Pray Specifically.
Philippians 4:6 (NLT) Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Prayer Tip: be specific.

3. Pray Confidently.
Luke 12:32 (NIV) Your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.

Not seeing God's provision?
1. Examine your habits.
Are you asking?
Are you working?
Deuteronomy 8:18 (NIV) Remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.
Are you being wise?

2. Examine your heart.
James 4:2–3 (NLT) …You don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it. 3 And even when you ask, you don't get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

Prayer tip: When praying, don't treat wants as needs.

1 John 5:14–15 (NIV)14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Provision to sustain is not all Jesus Provides.
"Is life not more than food." -Matthew 6:25

Matthew 4:4 (NIV) Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

"Our greatest need and our most significant provision is the person of Christ."
The word made flesh- John 1:14
John 6:35 (NIV)Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
