More Oil

Matthew 25: 1-13(NIV)
"At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 "At midnight the cry rang out: 'Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!' 7 "Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.' 9 "'No,' they replied, 'there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.' 10 "But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. 11 "Later the others also came. 'Lord, Lord,' they said, 'open the door for us! '12 "But he replied, 'Truly I tell you, I don't know you.' 13 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

The Wise…

Lamps
Psalms 119:105 (NIV) Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
1. The written word
Hebrews 4:12(ESV) For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

2. The word made flesh
John 1:1(NLT) In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Jesus is what the Father is saying.

John 5:39(NLT) You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!

Cultivating the oil intimacy
1. Devotion- Setting your intentions & decisions on the lord.
Proverbs 20:27 (NIV) The human spirit is the lamp of the LORD that sheds light on one’s inmost being.

2.
Delight- Setting your emotions and affections on the lord
“Intimacy is not just a devoted lifestyle but a delighted heart.”
Psalm 16:11(NIV) …You will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

3. Nearness- A heart that is set towards him.
Psalm 73:28(NIV) But as for me, it is good to be near God….
" In order to hear you gotta get near."
“Intimacy with Him is developed by having a constant conversation with the Lord.”
Psalm 145:18(NLT) The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.

4. Tenderness- A heart that is moldable.

The Oil of Intimacy

Matthew 25: 1-13(NIV) "At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

We are the delight and the desire of Jesus….
Song of Solomon 4:9(NIV) You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes….
Isaiah 62:5(NIV) As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.

The wise…
1. A posture of expectancy
Revelation 22:17(NIV)The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let the one who hears say, "Come!" Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

2. Prepared
Revelation 19:6-10(NIV) 6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God's holy people.)

The bridegroom prepares the place. We prepare ourselves.

Matthew 5:14-16(NLT) 14 "You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Don't be reluctant be ready!

3. Carry the oil of intimacy
Matthew 24:14(NIV) Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.

When Jesus moves, and we don't have oil in our lamps, then we resort to regret or resistance.

Do you have oil in your lamp?

Intimacy is HIS HIGHEST VALUE. It should be ours.

Cultivating the oil intimacy
A. Devotion- Setting your intentions & decisions on the lord.

B.Delight-Setting your emotions & affections on the lord
Intimacy is not just a devoted lifestyle but a delighted heart.

C. Nearness-A heart that is set towards him.
  • "Intimacy with Him is developed by having a constant conversation with the Lord.
D. Tenderness- A heart that is moldable.

Planning for More

More doesn’t just happen.

John 6:5-13 (NIV) 5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” 8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, 9 “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

The Miracle of More
  1. There was intentionality.
  2. There was a plan.
  3. The people were satisfied.
  4. There was plenty left.

Goalsmithing
#1. Priorities
- Jesus Centered

  • "When He is our purpose even if our plans fail his purposes prevail."
  • “Behavior is a byproduct of our relationship with Jesus.”
-Kingdom First
Matthew 6:33(NIV) Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
  • “God isn't trying to fit into your plan, he is fitting you into his.”

#2. Purposeful
  • “If we don’t live with intention, then demands will control our attention.”
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) For we are God's workmanship (poetic masterpiece), created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

#3. Plan
1. Pray
2. Process. Ask Questions
What?
Why? What are the motives…
When? goals need to be measurable.
Where is faith involved? The Impossible?
Hebrews 11:6(NIV) Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

3. Put it in to pen.

4. Leave some room
Proverbs 16:9 (NLT)  We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.

5. Partner with others.
-Anything that you can do by yourself is too small.

2 Corinthians 9:6-11 (NIV) 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” 10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generously on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

Ministry:
Psalm 32:8-9 (NLT) “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. 9 Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”

Capacity for More

2020 is the year of more.
Revelation 22:17 (NIV) The Spirit and the bride say, "Come " And let the one who hears say, "Come " And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.

Isaiah 43:18-19(NIV)  Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

1 Kings 17:17-24 (NLT) 17 Some time later the woman’s son became sick. He grew worse and worse, and finally he died. 18 Then she said to Elijah, “O man of God, what have you done to me? Have you come here to point out my sins and kill my son?” 19 But Elijah replied, “Give me your son.” And he took the child’s body from her arms, carried him up the stairs to the room where he was staying, and laid the body on his bed. 20 Then Elijah cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, why have you brought tragedy to this widow who has opened her home to me, causing her son to die?” 21 And he stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, please let this child’s life return to him.” 22 The LORD heard Elijah’s prayer, and the life of the child returned, and he revived! 23 Then Elijah brought him down from the upper room and gave him to his mother. “Look!” he said. “Your son is alive!” 24 Then the woman told Elijah, “Now I know for sure that you are a man of God, and that the LORD truly speaks through you.”

“Stop asking why a situation happened and start asking how a situation changes.”

A Capacity for more
  1. Consecration- Setting oneself apart
Comfort is the mother of complacency.
Stretch yourself
Luke 5:36-39(NLT) Jesus gave them this illustration: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and uses it to patch an old garment. For then the new garment would be ruined, and the new patch wouldn’t even match the old garment. “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine must be stored in new wineskins. But no one who drinks the old wine seems to want the new wine. ‘The old is just fine,’ they say.”

More of him will cost more of you.
John 3:30 “He must become greater; I must become less.”
The better you is the lesser you.

2. Concentration- An intense focus
Elijah Prayed 3
 Times.

Luke 11:9-10 (NIV) 9 "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

3. Commitment- stick to it.
Incremental changes are instrumental in transformation.
Make those changes and stick with them.

The new thing is not a modification it’s a transformation!
Transformation is a process.

-You won’t get Gods will doing things your way.

Get in there & STAY IN THERE!
Galatians 6:9(NIV) So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
