Glory

Slide

John 1:14 (NIV) The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen(we beheld) his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Glory: (Hebrew) Kabod- The weight or the heavy weight of God.

The fullness of God can be found in Jesus!!!
Colossians 1:19 (NIV) For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him.

Exodus 33:11-19 (NIV) 11 The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent. 12 Moses said to the LORD, "You have been telling me, 'Lead these people,' but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, 'I know you by name and you have found favor with me.' 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people." 14 The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." 15 Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. 16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?" 17 And the LORD said to Moses, "I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name." 18 Then Moses said, "Now show me your glory." 19 And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence….

Exodus 34:29 (NIV) When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD.

Glory…
1. Is born in desperation
  • We don’t just want Gods blessing we want his presence.
Proverbs 13:4 (NIV) The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

2. Grows with transformation
WE WERE TRANSFORMED TO CARRY THE GLORY OF GOD.
  • His Glory Governs
  • HIS WEIGHT DOMINATES.

  • 2 Corinthians 3:7-18 (NIV) 7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9 If the ministry that condemns men is glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was fading away came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts! 12 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 13 We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from gazing at it while the radiance was fading away. 14 But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

    3. Produces amplification

Isaiah 60:1-3 (NIV) 1 "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.

    Wisdom & Revelation

    Slide

Ephesians 1:15-19 (NIV) Ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

2 Exploration Tools: Wisdom & Revelation
Ephesians 1:17 (NIV) I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

    I keep asking...(Luke 11)
    The Spirit of….
Isaiah 11:2 (NIV) The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him-- the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD--

“So that you may know him better.”
Wisdom and Revelation, not so you can be or know something, but TO KNOW someone.”
Epignosis: Recognition, precise and correct knowledge.

Worship is not about exploration not destination

    WISDOM
    • Wisdom is not the same as knowledge, its experiential.
    • Wisdom is using the revelation that is in our possession.
    • The way that we steward wisdom will impact our ability to receive revelation.

1 Corinthians 2:6-16 (NIV) 6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"-- 10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. 14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of Godfor they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: 16  "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?But we have the mind of Christ.

    REVELATION
Matthew 16:13-20 (NIV) 13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" 14 They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets." 15  "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,
    • When we get a revelation of who he is he reveals who we are!
and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

    Jesus always builds on Revelation.
Mark 4:11-14 (NIV) 11 He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables 12 so that, "'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!'" 13 Then Jesus said to them, "Don't you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? 14 The farmer sows the word.

    Things that will suppress revelation
    • Hard heartedness(bitterness),
    • Lack of depth
    • Worldliness

Mark 4:20 (NIV) Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a—thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown.”
    ——
    Receiving Wisdom and Revelation
    1. Get in the word. Read it again and again.
    2. Ask the Lord, and Ask again.
    3. Sit before the Lord and listen, sing it.

    Childlike Wonder

    Slide

Wonder(ˈwəndər): cause of astonishment or admiration.

    Jesus was filled with wonder
    Filled with wonderful words
Matthew 7:28 (NLT) The crowds were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority.

    Filled with Wonderful works
Luke 9:43 (NLT) Awe gripped the people as they saw this majestic display of God’s power.

Luke 5:26 (NIV) Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, "We have seen remarkable things today."

Mark 9:15 (NIV) As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.

    Zacchaeus..
Luke 19:1-10 (NIV) 1 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. 5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today." 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. 7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, "He has gone to be the guest of a 'sinner.'" 8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount." 9 Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost."

Luke 18:15-17 (NLT) 15 One day some parents brought their little children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But when the disciples saw this, they scolded the parents for bothering him. 16 Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. 17 I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.

-We can only come in as children because we are coming into a family.

    1. Curiosity
Proverbs 25:2-3 (NIV) It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.
    • HIS WONDER CANNOT BE EXHAUSTED!!!!

    Things that squelch curiosity:
    -Making excuses
    -Being unteachable
Psalm 78:9-11 (NLT) 9 The warriors of Ephraim, though armed with bows, turned their backs and fled on the day of battle. 10 They did not keep God’s covenant and refused to live by his instructions. 11 They forgot what he had done— the great wonders he had shown them.
    -Looking elsewhere.
    >Stay curious! Embrace and explore His mystery.

    2. Joy and gladness!
So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.”
Luke 12:32 (NLT) It gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.
    • The lasting impact of our encounters will determined by how much of the joy of the Lord is present to carry them forward.”
    “He gladly gave up everything…..”

    Cultivating childlikeness
    1. Go out on a limb (Position yourself)
    2. Posture Yourself
    3. Respond to the invitation
“JESUS IS INVITING HIMSELF INTO OUT LIFE.”
