Heirs With Christ

Luke 22:31–32 (NIV) 31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail...

This is a refining moment for the Church. A refining moment for you as a believer.

This is a “Who will you serve" moment.
1 Kings 18:21 (NIV) Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”

Hebrews 12:22–29 (NIV) 22 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, 23 to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, 24 to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. 25 See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? 26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” 27 The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.”

Embracing the unshakable
1. The Will of God
1 John 2:17 (NIV) 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

I am most fulfilled when I am fulfilling his want!

James 4:13–15 (NIV) 13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist(vapor) that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

2. The Ways of God
  • We discover God's will by following his ways.
Proverbs 3:6 (NIV) In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

3. The Word of God
Matthew 7:24 (NIV) Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

4. The Wonders of God
Habakkuk 1:5 (NIV) 5 “Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.

Ministry:
Romans 4:18–21 (NIV) 18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him,“So shall your offspring be.” 19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
