Walking in the Miraculous
By Pastor Madison Sponsler

We are called to walk in miracles, signs, and wonders as His body. But how many times have you seen Christians walk in fruitlessness?  How many times have we seen prayers in the churches go unanswered?  Where is the disconnect in our Christian culture?

Mark chapter 5 walks us through the stories of two completely different individuals with two completely different circumstances. What did the two have in common? They were both desperately longing for His supernatural intervention. The first was a woman in need of a miracle for herself and the second was a man in need of a miracle for someone He knew. Regardless of who you are, I’m sure you’ve fallen into one of those categories at some point or another.

After having the faith to fight through the crowd and touch his robe in search of healing the woman with the issue of blood was told, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; Go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” Mark 5:34 ESV. Her faith in His power brought forth her own healing.

The man who needed healing for another (his daughter) approached Jesus in faith to heal his sick child, but came back to Him later to report that she was dead and that Jesus was too late. Jesus stirred up his faith by telling him not to be afraid, but to have faith. When Jesus arrived at the man’s house, He awoke the daughter from the dead. This father’s faith in God’s power, even after his daughter had died, brought forth his daughter’s healing.

I’m not an expert on miracles, I’m still in need of several for myself. But I do know a few things to be true through reading these stories:

1. Jesus responds to faith.
2. When you pray something always happens (whether seen or unseen).
3. It is His will to heal anyone who comes to Him.

Knowing these three principles should stir you up to pray and to pray vigorously, whether you’ve seen His supernatural power in your life before or not. As His body, we can’t afford to pray one way and to think another. Our prayers must be backed with faith that He will follow through. It is our calling to break off fruitlessness from our culture.

Our faith isn’t manipulation to pressure God into getting what we want. It’s an alignment of our thought process with His thought process.

Our faith isn’t manipulation to pressure God into getting what we want. It’s an alignment of our thought process with His thought process. When our prayers begin to alignwith His will, the miraculous takes place. So go forth in faith this week! Pray for yourself, for your neighbor, and for the stranger at the gas station. He is willing to do something! He is a good, good God and He takes good, good care of His children.
