Mark 3:28-30

28 “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30 for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

If the Bible says that there is sin that has eternal consequences, and cannot be forgiven, I definitely would like to understand it. I have never understood what it meant blaspheme the Holy Spirit. I have thought that it could mean if you curse or disagree with the Holy Spirit you would have committed the unforgivable sin, but about those who don’t know Jesus yet, or those who don’t know what they are doing, and they commit it ignorantly? What happens to them? Let’s look at what the Mark says.

To understand any passage in the Word, it is helpful to read and understand the surrounding context of what you are reading. To clarify the context, Jesus was speaking to the scribes, some of the religious leaders of their day, according to verse 22. Earlier in Mark chapter 1, Jesus was baptized in water and the Holy Spirit. After this baptism he began spreading the good news of the kingdom of God and showing the kingdom through many signs, wonders and miracles. When Jesus would speak, demons would manifest in the audience. When they did he would simply cast out them out. The kingdom of heaven was advanced through the power of the Holy Spirit. These religious rulers accused Jesus of casting out demons by being possessed  and using the devil’s authority. Not only did they miss the kingdom of God and eternal life, but they condemned Jesus and the one who sent Him (God). Along with this grievous and conscious choice to oppose God, the people who were supposed to teach Israel how to follow God instead used their authority to try to turn others away for God’s kingdom. That is why the consequence of this sin is so weighty.

Today the Kingdom of Heaven is still advanced through the power of the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is still blasphemed. Have you blasphemed the Holy Spirit? Can you still be saved if you are not sure of this answer? If you are asking these question, the answer is no, you have not. Blaspheming this aspect of the Trinity is conscious and willful opposition to the the advancing of the kingdom of God and the work of the Holy Spirit. A person who commits it would know that they had because it is a willful decision. If a person consciously and willfully speaks against the Holy Spirit, who is testifying about Jesus, it is sin that carries eternal consequences.

Search your heart and see if there is anything in that stands in opposition to the work of the Holy Spirit in your life

Application
Search your heart and see if there is anything in that stands in opposition to the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. We do not want anything that comes close to blaspheming the Holy Spirit, because it holds us back from walking in the fullness of what God has for us. If there’s anything that feels resistant to the work of the Holy Spirit in your life or the message of Jesus, lay down your resistance at the feet of Jesus and let God come and fill you all in all.  Give these unsurrendered parts  to him today, turn away from them and ask for forgiveness. When you do this He will be faithful to wash clean you through the blood of Jesus.

Healing | Mark 3:7-12

Healing
By: Pastor Brooke Hernandez

“Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him. And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they crush him, for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed around him to touch him. And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” And he strictly ordered them not to make him known.” - Mark‬ ‭3:7-12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Word spread fast of all the miracles Jesus was preforming. These were tight knit communities and many of the people in the crowd I’m sure knew those who were healed already. They probably went to the synagogue for years with the blind boy who received his sight. They probably passed the paralytic every time they went to the market and now they are hearing and seeing that Jesus completely healed them.

I can only imagine the great amount of faith that was permeating the air in this crowd. I’m sure mother’s brought their sick children and sisters grabbed their ailed brother to get them healed. Everyone was anticipating an encounter with this man, Jesus, because they saw and heard that he had healed many already.

“All who had diseases pressed around him to touch him.” Mark 3:10

Every single sick person in that huge crowd was going to get their healing. They knew He could heal so they came to Him. How many times do we look at our sickness and say, “Jesus could heal me of this”, but we choose not to come to Him. We’d rather just wait for Him to come to us. Or we choose to wallow in our pity that we still aren’t healed rather then getting up and meeting with the man who paid the price for our healing. Sometimes it takes us just a moment for everything to change.

if you are needing healing, go to Jesus. Sit at his feet today.

I challenge you today: if you are needing healing, go to Jesus. Sit at His feet today. He will always meet you were you’re at but sometimes we need to take one baby step of faith. So I encourage you to step out, push through, and watch Jesus move in your life today!

Jesus Builds A Family(Sermon)- Mark 3

Mark 3:7–15 (ESV)

7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him. And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they crush him, 10 for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed around him to touch him. 11 And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” 12 And he strictly ordered them not to make him known.
13 And he went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him. 14 And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach 15 and have authority to cast out demons. …

1. Jesus had circles.
-Community: Knew Jesus publicly.
-Crowd: Knew Jesus socially.
-Committed: Knew Jesus privately.
-Core: Knew Jesus intimately

2. Intimacy is his highest value.
“He is a relational creator.”

John 15:15–16 (NIV)15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

3. Relationship > Assignment
Mark 3:15 (ESV) 14 And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach...

“Working FOR God typically involves working apart from God.”

John 6:28–29 (NIV) 28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” 29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
“In the Kingdom, relationship is the greatest accomplishment.”

4.
Some won't stick
Mark 3:20-22 (ESV) 20 Then he went home, and the crowd gathered again, so that they could not even eat. 21 And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.”

John 6:66–68 (ESV) 66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life…”

Are you with him?
You are as close to him as you want to be.
“Following Jesus closely is costly.”

Mark 3:25 (ESV)  If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.

Jesus desires undivided devotion.

Mark 3:31–35 (ESV)
31 His mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him. 32 And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, seeking you.” 33 And he answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” 34 And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”
